About The Butcher’s Dog

The Butcher’s Dog is a family owned, independent business in Driffield, run by a local family team that’s truly passionate about great real ale and traditional pubs.
Founded on the belief that smaller independent producers can compete with the big name breweries and chain pubs – we focus on quality beer, traditional brewing techniques and old-fashioned values that the big corporates simply can’t offer.
Whether you’re popping into The Butcher’s Dog Micropub in Driffield for a pint, or ordering our beer for your pub, bar or restaurant, you’ll get the finest quality ales, fair treatment and friendly service.

The Butcher’s Dog name is a culmination of the history of our site, four decades of UK microbrewing heritage, and our own pet dog!
Our micropub is located on the site of an old butcher’s shop in Driffield, and it seemed fitting to include the sense of history into the name. When establishing the business, we also discovered that the first ever micropub in the UK was called The Butcher’s Arms – and we wanted to honour this tradition.
The dog part comes from our beautiful Dalmatian, Peppa – you’ll see her on the logo, and she’s the inspiration behind the names of many of the real ales we produce.
